 (Fuzzorama Records)
Some time ago I reviewed the first album of Stake-Off when they were on Sliptrick Records. No they seem to have been headhunted for Swedish Fuzzorama Records. The music is still a captive mix of mainly heavy stoner metal but with elements of dark industrial in the sound.

 (Kämäset Levyt UKK-039/Plaguebearer PB:XX)
8 tracks of raging distorted old-school hardcore come Finland/Austria way. I'm immediately whiffed back to '83-'84 to a dirty finish squat with Mellakka, Kaoss and Riistetyt pumping tunes straight into my blood-veins. One solid slap of wax that makes me want to fuck up my room and my life.

(Bad Afro Records CD039) This is the latest release on Bad Afro records and one of the first bands they have released that is not from Scandinavia! Anyway, this Australian outfit fits perfectly in with bands the label does release like the Setting Son, Baby Woodrose, etc. This is the bands 3 rd release and this will be released on CD and LP. |

(Waste of Space 2009) Dark Budda Rising is a new psychedelic DOOM band from Finland and one of the coolest bands that I discovered in 2009. I also have their first double LP called Ritual IX, which features one LP with two totally amazing DOOM, psych, Kraut rock tracks and the 2 nd LP of strange drone dark drone music. |

RIP Jay Reatard 1980-2010 |

By Anders (Cola Freaks, Jay Reatard Band) Bye bye Jay I rarely receive letters, but today I did. Inside the letter was a cd with a bootleg recording from the Jay Reatard show at Loppen, Copenhagen on it, one of the nearly 40 shows my friend Jacob and I did with Jay. I threw the cd on the stereo and was instantly overwhelmed with memories and emotions, joy, sadness and anger in equal measures. What a loss! I had only known the person Jimmy Lindsey for a couple of months before he was taken away from us. But of course I had known the artist Jay Reatard for quite some time. When I was first introduced to his music I wasn't instantly impressed. I wasn't a big fan of the garage trash of The Reatards (I know I'm a poser!) and I couldn't really relate to the synth stylings of Lost Sounds. |
